We have received the children’s exam results from the external markers.
When I was negotiating to take on the school, in 2009, the pupils scored the lowest English results ever. They were also the lowest in East London. 6 out of 10 pupils were leaving us for high school unable to read and write.
Two years on and 8 out of 10 will leave us in two weeks time able to read and write to national expectations.
I’m a proud man tonight. I’m proud of the pupils, their teachers, their teaching assistants and our senior leadership team.
I’m proud of myself as well.
It has been stressful but worth it.
I plan to print a school bumper sticker: IF YOU CAN READ THIS, THANK MY ULCER.
Keep the Faith,
The Head
